Debian AMD64

Anyone get this to compile and work?  I followed the instructions on the 
winehq site, but no luck.

I get a compiler cannot create executables error everytime.   I can 
compile other things ok.  As I can't get the debian chroot instructions 
to work either (for a 32 bit environment) I'm kind of stuck.
