Hi James, Hmm, strange. Now that you mention it, I see the same thing. It certainly seems like it *should* keep the protected flag from one update to the next. Perhaps you should report that to the SuSE guys. Did you install wine from an RPM? Whenever I install an RPM that didn't come from the SuSE distribution, it's automatically "protected" and it does stay that way.
