There has been no progress debugging this. Searchs of the error message and its parts find lots of references but no clues about where to look. The config file is a direct copy of one that worked. The wine build is a ./configure, make depend, make, and make install. $DISPLAY is set to :0.0 and the x11drv.so file is in place. This one is proving difficult to crack.
Most of the developers who might know what to suggest have been attending wineconf. So perhaps give it a few days and try asking again. In the meantime, have you tried a binary Wine release, just to see if that might work?
