I have in /home/john/Documents the rpm file 'wine-20040914-mdk.i586.rpm' changing to 'su' will permit the installation of the package by using rpm -iv wine-20040914-mdk.i586.rpm I know that by using the command 'winhelp' the directory /home/john/.wine will be created. I forgot how I happen to know this. What document source would tell me that I would have to use 'winhelp'?
