You should be able to find a web version of the mailing list on www.winehq.org, somewhere near signing up for it, if I recall correctly. Either this is searchable, or you should be able to use google's domain specific search to search it. Secondly, if that doesn't work, I believe there's a newsgroup format, you could use the search feature in most newsreaders to find your message.
