Merely because I don't have the time to (I'll relook at your message
later, but I have to go to bed soon or I'll be a wreck tomorrow) I can't
read your e-mail.  However, this first paragraph cought my attention:

You should be able to find a web version of the mailing list on
www.winehq.org, somewhere near signing up for it, if I recall correctly. 
Either this is searchable, or you should be able to use google's domain
specific search to search it.

Secondly, if that doesn't work, I believe there's a newsgroup format,
you could use the search feature in most newsreaders to find your
message.  (IIRC both slrn(linux) and outlook express(win) should allow
you to search news messages, or at least the titles.)
