IE6 works very nice with Wine and there are many programs that depend on
it or on one of the Windows libraries that come with it (because IE6 is
more a Windows update than just a browser...).

DCOM is the M$ implementation of the "Distributed Component Object
Model" architecture: DCOM is a Protocol that enables software components
to communicate directly over a network in a reliable, secure, and
efficient manner. Previously called OLE, DCOM is designed for use across
multiple network transports, including Internet Protocols such as HTTP.
DCOM is based on DCE RPC and COM.

It is extremely important for Windows software and should alway be
installed under Wine.
