excellent! again, thank you very much for your help.

unfortunately, although i can now choose which network mode i would
like, it seems unable to start a game. i get to the screen where i must
choose a session name and pressing return either does nothing or gives
me a blank screen (and i must `kill -9` all wine processes from the
console).
