Experience has shown that apps running under wine do not see symlinks. Putting a symlink in your fake c_drive isn't an option. I find that a bit unfortunate. Wouldn't it be a nice hack? Anyways ...
By default they aren't shown, but there is an option under the [wine] section to enable this:
"ShowDirSymlinks" = "1"
It is apparently disabled by default due to the potential problems of recursive symlinks. Personally, I haven't encountered any problems yet.
