I'm new to both the ubuntu system and Wine. I just installed wine and tried to install software from a CD. An error window popped up: "There is no Windows program configured to open this type of file" I don't know what I'm supposed to do to fix this.
I'm not sure I can help, but I'll try. I'm using a Linux distro that has Dolphin as a file manager. If I go to Dolphin and go to the CD (one of the entries at the side) and open that, I have a screen of what's on the CD. Then I go to the .exe file that I want to install and snap on that, and it automatically opens itself in Wine and installs. (The Windows-style window opens with the Install Wizard, and it goes from there.) If you have something other than Dolphin, some kind of file manager must let you choose the CD and open files on it, so try this technique and see what happens. --doug
