a few points that I forgot to mention. a) i am running 64 bit Meerkat. b) the install (under wine) fails and I cannot find any logs c) I am trying to install 6.1 HOWEVER. Taking you message that 4.3.3 works successfully, I used wine to install the 4.3.3 version under meerkat 64-bit. IT WORKS like a charm Thanks for pointing out that 4.3.3 works, as they say "sometimes the old stuff is better than the new" I am up and running now. I will contine to experiment when I have time and get more familiar with "wine" and post any useful results. thanks again
