I used the wininet.dll from a Win98 installation. That appeared to be required for the installer to work. And I guess I have my config set to use a native msvcrt, if the installer uses that. Again, I have a Win98 version. And I have my Windows version in the config file also set for win98. I guess the rpms you are using should work, though I have never used them myself. I just get Wine straight from CVS and compile. See a post from me a couple of days ago if you want to give that a try. Previously (in early July), when the installer was not working, it would try to make a network connection for awhile. Eventually it would timeout and put up a dialog asking whether a proxy was needed.
