Did you try all available options available for Linux?
Quick search on Google news group archive found a few
interesting articles. E.g. this one:

discusses using of full Interbase server installation
(it's small - about 12Mb) as a client.

If possible I *strongly* recommend to use available
native version instead of trying to run Windows one.
