Dear Colleagues!
We are excited to announce a three-day workshop, where cutting-edge
volcanic research meets interdisciplinary collaboration, to be hosted at
the *Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) *on May 28-30th, 2025. Alaskaâ??s high
volcanic activity and AVOâ??s comprehensive datasets make this region the
ideal location to investigate active volcanic processes in the United
States. The *Community Research Prioritization for Volcanoes Across the
Alaska-Aleutian Arc Workshop* will focus on enticing researchers to work on
projects that utilize AVOâ??s rich datasets, as well as fill in
pre-identified, missing datasets, in order to progress open questions that
fall into two main themes: 1) improving our spatial and temporal
reconstruction of the plumbing systems that feed volcanic eruptions and
their cycles 2) progress towards the interpretation and processing of
datasets collected during volcanic unrest.

*Workshop Highlights:*

   - Explore questions that could be answered through the integration of
petrologic geochemical, seismologic, and geodetic to make advances on the
critical questions of: â??How can the onset, duration, magnitude, and
intensity of eruptions be assessed and anticipated?â?? and â??What drives
   volcanism?â??
   - Highlight questions or datasets where complementary information or new
processing techniques are required before integration can occur.
   - Foster collaborations between academic researchers and AVO experts.

Whether you're a seasoned Alaskan volcanologist or new to Alaska's unique
systems, this workshop is designed to inspire and connect a diverse group
of scientists to actively pursue datasets and integrative needs in this
rich volcanic environment.

*Details:*

   - Scientists at various career stages will be selected to participate,
ensuring a balanced mix of expertise and fresh perspectives. Partial
funding to support travel, food and lodging will be available.
   - In addition, we anticipate strong participation from all members of
AVO (USGS, University of Alaska Fairbanks, and State of Alaska Division of
   Geological & Geophysical Surveys).
