Johnston in May 2019; David died in the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens. I am his biographer, but the book comes with the voices of his family, childhood friends, cherished colleagues, and his own personal writings. The book received high marks from both the National Assoc. of Geoscience Teachers. Recently, an AUDIOBOOK version of David's biography was released by UIP. University presses have little resources for promoting their books, thus, the audio has not reached those...with low vision, dyslexia, or just on-the-go folks. People know of David's "dynamite keg with its fuse lit" comment. They know if his, "This is it!" exclamation. But very few know about the 30 years that came before 18 May 1980, the day of the eruption. The preferred method of acquiring the Audiobook is through University of Illinois Press - versus Amazon. Though Amazon does carry the "audible" version too. However you're able to share this info, be it with your university (eg, alma mater) or as a gift, thank you. The book honors *many* heroes; hence the title starts with "A" -- A Hero, not "The" Hero... Many heroes keep communities safe.
