*Dear Colleagues, *

We would like to invite submissions for the following session at the IAVCEI
Scientific Assembly 29 June â?? 4 July 2025 in GENEVA, SWITZERLAND:

*Session: High resolution syn-eruptive documentation and analyses of recent
basaltic eruptions*

(SESSION THEME: 1. PRODUCTION OF MAGMA AND ASSEMBLY OF VOLCANIC PLUMBING
SYSTEMS)

Recent eruptions at Etna, on La Palma, and on the Reykjanes Peninsula are
prime examples where high-resolution temporal and syn-eruptive sampling has
been applied to better understand magma supply and eruption patterns in
populated areas threatened by active volcanism. Detailed time-resolved
sampling of erupted lavas and pyroclastic products allows systematic
investigation of changes in mineralogical, chemical, and isotopic
characteristics on a daily to weekly timescale and gives us the opportunity
to correlate this information with physical volcanology plus geophysical
and geochemical monitoring information, to more fully understand changes in
eruptive patterns and styles. High-resolution sampling of ongoing eruptions
thus offers an exciting approach to advance our knowledge of the inner
workings of volcanic systems and eruptive phenomena. We therefore invite
contributions that utilize time-resolved volcanological, geochemical,
geophysical and petrophysical eruption data that can serve to better
understand volcanic processes and help adjust actions required to reduce
risk for infrastructure and society.
