Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to submit an abstract for our IAVCEI session
titled "*Surveying Oceanic Volcanism: Mapping, Monitoring, Response, and
Geophysical Techniques for the Seafloor*" in *Theme: 2. Pre and
syn-eruptive monitoring*. This session focuses on the challenges and
advancements in monitoring and surveying oceanic volcanoes, especially
those that are deeper and remain unmonitored due to logistical and
financial barriers.

*Session Overview*
Monitoring and surveying marine volcanoes remains one of the major
challenges in volcanology. While deeper submarine systems are costly and
complex to study, recent innovations are enabling significant progress.
Advances in sensor technology, expanded monitoring networks, and the use of
autonomous submersibles are enhancing our capabilities. For shallower and
emergent marine volcanoes, remote sensing and low-cost coastal and
surface-deployed sensors provide promising options for monitoring. This
session welcomes abstracts that focus on mapping, detection, and monitoring
of submarine volcanic activity. Contributions may include data from field
research expeditions, seafloor instrumentation networks, remote sensing, or
novel methodologies aimed at better understanding and tracking these unique
volcanic systems.

*Submission Deadline:* December 20th, 2023

We look forward to your contributions and to engaging discussions on how we
can further develop these critical methods for oceanic volcanism research.
Your insights and advancements are crucial to improve our understanding and
monitoring of these complex and often hazardous environments.
