Dear Volcanological community,
We would like to draw your attention to the session "Uncertainty
quantification in volcanic hazard and risk assessment" at the upcoming
IAVCEI 2025 Scientifica Assembly on June 29 - July 4, 2025 in Geneva.
Abstract submission is now open and we encourage anyone interested in these
topics to submit a contribution to our session through the following link

Volcanic phenomena are affected by high degrees of uncertainty, both
related to natural variability as well as to lack of, or imperfect,
knowledge. Uncertainty quantification (UQ) is a fundamental task to be able
to incorporate such uncertainties into volcanic hazard and risk
assessments. From inverse modelling of monitoring and/or field-based data
to investigate pre- and syn-eruptive volcanic processes to the forward
modelling commonly required to forecast future volcanic activity, UQ is
becoming a key field in modern volcanology.

In this session we welcome contributions that cover the wide spectrum of UQ
of volcanic phenomena, with a specific focus on those with a direct
application to hazard and/or risk assessment (e.g. hazard curves/maps) and
related problems (e.g. model validation with observations).
