Hazard, Risk and Impact *at the upcoming IAVCEI 2025 Scientific Assembly. The deadline is 20 December 2024. *Session description: * Life in volcanic environments can be threatened in various ways. Exposure to volcanic gas and ash, during an eruption and through long-term resuspension (ash), can negatively impact health. Contamination of food and water supplies and psychological distress can also result from eruptions. Convergence research is needed to understand disease outcomes in volcanic environments and to design innovative, sustainable and community-centered approaches to health prevention. We encourage submissions from a broad range of topics related to health, like: 1) characterizing health-relevant physicochemical properties of volcanic (by)products, particularly spatio-temporal differences; 2) determining health risks and impacts using toxicity studies at cellular and whole-body scales, or epidemiological approaches; 3) constraining community exposures through air and water quality monitoring, environmental fate and transport modelling, or personal exposure monitoring; 4) supporting community preparedness and resilience, and health responses during eruptions; 5) exploring (psycho)social factors affecting perception and behavior related to exposures and health risks We look forward to receiving your contributions and seeing you in Geneva!
