1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1 From: Vyacheslav Zobin <vzobin@xxxxxxx> Dear friends, I present here my new book â??Volcanic Seismologyâ??, the fourth edition of previously published during 20 years as â??Introduction to Volcanic Seismologyâ??. I was glad to receive two years ago the letter from the Elsevierâ??s Acquisitions Editor for geoscience and atmospheric science Jennette McClain with an invitation to prepare this Fourth Edition of my book. I prepared it, adding a new chapter about seismic events occurring during lava dome growth and destruction at andesitic and dacitic volcanoes, and four sections about the seismic events associated with significant volcanic events of the last decade. Among them are the Plinian submarine eruption of andesitic Hunga Tonga-Hunga Haâ??apai Volcano in mid-January 2022, the first Plinian violent volcanic eruption in the past more than 100 years; then, the 2018 eruption of basaltic Kilauea volcano, Hawaii, including both a summit caldera collapse and a flank fissure eruption. It was the largest Lower East Rift Zone eruption and caldera collapse in at least 200 years. Finally, I added the data about seismicity of the 2020_21 eruptive episode at andesitic La Soufriere Volcano in the Lesser Antilles. Initial activity was an effusive phase that lasted three months and turned explosive on April 9, 2021. I also added the description of the acoustic events recorded during the 2022 Hunga Tonga-Hunga Haâ??apai Volcano eruption. After consulting with the Elsevier officials, the title of this fourth edition of the book was changed from â??Introduction to Volcanic Seismologyâ?? to â??Volcanic Seismologyâ??. I present here my book, and I will be glad also to give during 2025 the short (20-30 hrs) courses of lectures on Volcanic Seismology, based on this book, for the universities and scientific centers (in English or Spanish).
