PhD and Post-doc position in volcanic and surface processes at the
University of Nevada, Reno

Please feel free to forward the information on to anyone who you think may
be interested in applying or and/or who has questions:

1) We are recruiting a new PhD student working on surface processes at the
University of Nevada Reno with a focus on landscape evolution following
volcanic eruptions and the evolution of topographic ridgelines. This
project is associated with a multi-disciplinary research group and
supported by National Science Foundation funding.

Anyone interested in this project should reach out to Joel Scheingross at
UNR (jscheingross@xxxxxxx).

You can find a basic overview of the projects, as well as information
about how to apply at https://joelscheingross.com/opportunities/

.

2) The volcanology research group at the University of Nevada Reno has an
opening for a two-year postdoctoral researcher focused on the evolution and
emplacement of shallow rhyolitic systems, available immediately. The
postdoctoral scholar will be part of a large NSF-funded multi-disciplinary
research team studying the 2011-12 eruption of Cordon Caulle, Chile.
Research interests of the applicant should cover general areas of physical
volcanology, geochemistry, petrology, and hydrothermal systems with a goal
to also develop independent research projects in this general area of
research aside from the work at Cordon Caulle. The postdoctoral scholar
will assist in the preparation and execution of all field activities of the
large research team (e.g. deploying of large and heavy geophysical and
other monitoring equipment as well as sampling of erupted products in
rugged terrain). Furthermore, collaboration is central to this position and
interaction with graduate students focusing on complementary research
questions is expected, especially collaborating with the surface processes
team at UNR (Prof J. Scheingross).

Please contact Philipp Ruprecht (pruprecht@xxxxxxx) for more information.

Interested applicants should email me with a cover letter stating their
interest in the position and a copy of their resume or CV, including
details for at least three references.
