Please pass this along to anyone who might be interested. Thanks! ---- Denison University invites applications for a *tenure-track* position at the Assistant Professor level in the *Department of Earth & Environmental Sciences*, to begin in August 2025. We seek a broadly trained scientist engaged in the study of Natural Hazards such as (but not limited to) earthquakes, tsunamis, landslides, impacts, and more. Successful candidates are expected to be outstanding teacher-scholars and contribute to the continued growth of the Department and College. The college and the department are committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming community for students, faculty, and staff, and to mentoring faculty to be exceptional teachers, scholars, and colleagues. Our commitment to being a diverse learning and working community is essential to our educational mission. Individuals who identify as underrepresented in STEM disciplines are encouraged to apply. We are seeking a colleague who is committed to teaching excellence in the liberal arts tradition, has broad interests beyond their individual specialty, and will provide a balance of classroom, field, and laboratory experiences for our students. Candidates must have the desire and ability to teach courses at all levels of the curriculum with an emphasis on (1) Structural Geology & Tectonics, (2) Natural Hazards, and (3) Introductory Earth & Environmental Sciences. The teaching load is 3 courses per academic year. Denison is a fully residential campus and all classes are held in-person and on-campus. Successful candidates are also expected to maintain a vibrant, ongoing research program that actively incorporates undergraduate students in a liberal arts setting. The candidate's research specialty should complement and expand the department's existing strengths in sedimentology, geomorphology, petrology, and biogeochemistry. During the summer, Denison and several affiliated funding agencies provide research and housing stipends for the support of undergraduate research students, including faculty stipends. Research with students during the academic year is also supported with funding available from various internal sources. A supportive environment for teacher-scholars who value both classroom and research excellence, Denison offers extensive support for its faculty, including start-up research funds, an annual professional development account, competitive professional development funding, and a one-semester research leave after a successful pre-tenure review. The college also offers a range of workshops and mentoring programs to develop our strengths as teacher-scholars. Contributions to the life of the department, institution, and the larger community are an essential part of Denisonâ??s mission. We anticipate our new colleague will regularly engage in service activities within these communities. Denison is a highly selective, residential liberal arts college with a broadly diverse student body of approximately 2,400 from across the nation and world. We seek faculty who exemplify academic excellence and professional integrity. Denison is committed to attracting and supporting a diverse faculty and is committed to providing a work and learning environment free from discrimination. Our mission is to foster critical thinking and intellectual growth in an environment that values diverse perspectives and thoughtful exchange. Granville offers an excellent public school system and easy access to outdoor activities. Denison offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including tuition benefits to attend Denison or other affiliated colleges and a generous retirement contribution. 4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4 ------------------------------
