of
the National Research Council (CNR) of Italy is seeking applications for a
postdoctoral position in Rome.

This one-year position, with the possibility of renewal, focuses on
understanding the physicochemical dynamics of magma ascent through volcanic
conduits using petrological tools and numerical modeling. This research
will contribute to a better understanding of volcanic eruptions, improving
risk assessment and hazard mitigation.

The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative and
interdisciplinary research group led by Danilo Di Genova
<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.danilodigenova.org/__;!!IKRxdwAv5BmarQ!ZfwWIYycA_cXYjFzrLJZIKIHUKxDqirCeIjDCBbVYWOS_E1x8JZ2IJGKwoWpHdb8yzyL4HykiZ42CAfcB5AUnYQocw$>,
Principal Investigator of the ERC project NANOVOLC: Nanoscale dynamics of
volcanic processes: Experimental insights and numerical simulations of
explosive eruptions

Our group is known for its inclusive, enthusiastic, and interdisciplinary
environment, collaborating with international research teams across various
fields such as Earth sciences, physics, mathematics, artificial
intelligence, and materials science. Our work also extends to applications
in the circular economy and the conservation of cultural heritage.

Requirements:

- A degree in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Geological Sciences,
or Geophysical Sciences.

- A PhD (minimum three years) in a related field.

- Documented scientific and professional experience through employment at
universities or research centers, publications, conference participation,
and research projects.

- Strong programming skills in Fortran, Python, MATLAB, R, and experience
in developing computational codes.

- Ability to develop and use complex numerical models to simulate fluid
behavior, with experience in statistical result analysis.

- (Preferred but not mandatory) Understanding of the physicochemical
mechanisms controlling degassing and crystallization of magmas in volcanic
conduits.

The net monthly salary is approximately â?¬1,900. For application
