These skill sets (some of which can be trained for entry level positions) will be applied to installing, operating, and maintaining the array of field monitoring instrumentation that the USGS Volcano Science Center has deployed across the landscape to monitor active and potentially active volcanoes. Technician series positions have either a work experience or positive education requirement (or some combination of the two). Applicants who do not have either the required work or educational experience will be disqualified from further consideration. Applicants should submit ALL copies of their unofficial transcripts if seeking educational credit for qualifications. This is especially important if they've attended multiple schools. The transcripts are needed to confirm that the applicant has completed the required coursework for the basic education requirement. ALL applicants regardless of whether they are current USGS, or whether they are current federal employees in the series MUST do this. If applicants are qualifying based on education and they have completed their degree requirements, but their transcripts have not yet been updated, applicants may submit a letter from the school indicating that they have completed their degree requirements along with a copy of their most recent unofficial transcripts.
