Girina" <girina@xxxxxxxxx> Dear colleagues, Volcanologists from the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Russia) are pleased to announce that in Kamchatka, on April 26, 2024, a new lava dome (Karan-1) began to grow on the southwestern slope of the Sheveluch volcano. Based on continuous satellite observations by KVERT, a new extrusive dome began to extrude at the Karan Dome area on the southwestern slope of the Sheveluch Volcano around 15:00 UTC on April 26, 2024. The extrude of the lava dome is accompanied by powerful gas-steam activity, and its bright incandescence at night time since April 26, 2024. Satellite data by KVERT show a bright thermal anomaly over the lava dome Karan-1. KVERT continues to monitor the Sheveluch volcano. 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1 ------------------------------
