The successful candidate is expected to develop an original research and to be capable of developing projects of international scope, structuring the laboratory and the Clermont-Ferrand site, possibly building bridges between disciplinary fields. The research topics we are interested in include studies of magmatic, volcano-tectonic and eruptive processes through physical and/or field volcanology, experimental or numerical modelling, geophysics (seismology, geodesy, etc.), remote sensing, petrological and geochemical characterization of volcanic products, as well as the study of the impacts of this activity in terms of volcanic hazards and risks. Any additional expertise applied to geo-resources in the volcanic domain (geothermal, hydrogeology, etc) is also welcome. The research of the team ranges from the transfer and storage of magmas to the internal dynamics of volcanoes, eruptive processes and implications of this activity in terms of hazards and risks.
