For the Conveners, Matthieu Kervyn, Gabor Kereszturi, Daniel Oâ??hara, Dávid Karátson, Pierre Lahitte *Session Description* The geomorphology of volcanoes and volcanic features contains inherent information on the wide range of geologic and geomorphic processes that construct and degrade them. The rapidly expanding availability of digital elevation models (DEMs), generated from a variety of platforms with ever increasing resolutions, spatial and temporal coverages, offers new and exciting opportunities to quantitatively document volcano morphologies with unprecedented detail. Combining these morphometric datasets with a better quantification of the many aggradational and destructive processes that interact in volcanic environments provides innovative prospects for modelling the growth and evolution of volcanoes over a range of spatial and temporal scales, as well as constraining the influence of endogenous processes such as tectonism and external agents such as climate. This session aims at bringing together geomorphologists and volcanologists working in a range of volcanic environments on Earth, including submarine and subglacial environments, and on extraterrestrial planets to discuss the current state-of-the art of volcano geomorphology. We specifically encourage contributions on: - Geomorphic analysis of the emplacement processes of lava flows, lava domes, scoria cones, maars, calderas and mass flow deposits. - Field-based techniques (including UAV-surveys) and studies that quantify volcano geomorphological processes including aggradation and erosion rates from river basin to volcanic arc scales. - Growth and/or degradational histories of volcanoes at different time scales, focusing on their morphometric evolutions. - Analysis of patterns and rates of erosion of volcanic landforms and the relation with climate. - The links between volcano morphometry, spatial distribution of volcanism, the magmatic plumbing system, and the tectonic setting. - Analogue and numerical modeling studies focusing on the geomorphology and morphometry of volcanic processes. - Quantification and classification of volcanic landforms based on morphometric analyses. - Geomorphology and morphometry as keys for volcanic hazard studies. 3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3 ------------------------------
