Hi All (with apologies for cross-postings)

I have a current vacancy for an exciting and fully funded PhD project at
the Ralph J. Roberts Center for Research in Economic Geology at the
University of Nevada Reno. This project is focused on the global gold
mining sector and will examine gold supply and demand, global primary and
co- and by-product gold resources, the relative importance of different
mineral deposit types and the impact of changes in the global economy and
the energy transition on the gold sector. This will include examining the
sustainability of the global gold industry and the environmental, social,
and governmental/governance challenges that the sector faces.

This PhD project would suit students who have interests in the geosciences
and economic geology and economics (especially mineral economics) and would
build on an expanding body of research focused on global metal supply and
demand; for details of previous publications in this area please see my
Google Scholar link below. International applicants are welcome, and
applications should be submitted by 1st January 2024 and the project will
start in Autumn/Fall 2024. Applications should be submitted via the UNR
portal and details are provided here:
