The National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, Pisa Section, has
announced an open position for a postdoctoral fellowship titled "Assessment
of Volcanic Hazard", funded by the following research
project: "Multiparametric Networks, Development of early warning systems
and quantitative models for assessing the hazard and risk of Stromboli".

The research activities envisaged during the fellowship will focus on the
"Quantitative assessment of volcanic hazard through mathematical models,
probabilistic analyses, and
techniques for uncertainty quantification", including:
1. Estimation of the occurrence probability of volcanic phenomena.
2. Numerical models of hazardous phenomena in explosive volcanism.
3. Mapping volcanic hazard with uncertainty quantification.

*Candidates must have completed a Ph.D.*

The research group into which the successful candidate will be integrated
possesses expertise
spanning from numerical modeling of volcanic processes to hazard estimation
using statistical
and mathematical models, as well as the collection and analysis of
volcanological data and related uncertainties. During the fellowship, there
will be encouragement for both deepening and enhancing the candidate's
field of expertise and their integration and growth within a
multidisciplinary and stimulating environment.

Duration: 12 months, with the possibility of an extension.
Start date: January 2024, with possible flexibility.
