2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2 From: "Dietterich, Hannah R" <hdietterich@xxxxxxxx> Dear Colleagues, In anticipation of the upcoming 2024 launch of the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) Mission, we are inviting contributions to an interdisciplinary 2023 AGU Fall Meeting Session in the Natural Hazards section: *NH007 - Applied Science and Applications Supported by the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) Mission*. In this session we aim to integrate presentations and spur discussion on new developments and preparations for NISAR, potential applied and research applications, and current work using NISAR-like products. This mission will provide the next regular, open-data SAR coverage of volcanoes across the globe, so may be of particular interest to the volcanology community. *Abstract Deadline is August 2, 2023* *Session description:* The NISAR mission will provide SAR data sets covering nearly all Earthâ??s land areas, many coastal waters, and much of the polar oceans, acquired continually from orbits that repeat at 12-day intervals. The NISAR science team and project have prepared through focused workshops engaging specific applications communities, with an Early Adopter Program that welcomes both science, applications projects, users with all levels of familiarity with SAR data and processing. The mission has implemented a semi-automated system for requesting, processing, and distributing low latency products to support response to major disasters. Standard processing stream supports monitoring preconditions for a natural disaster, including increases in soil moisture near floodplains or indications of slope instability prior to landslides. Contributions on presenting NISARâ??s value, applications that support operational agencies monitoring, response goals, use of NISAR for developing and proving new capabilities of SAR for societal benefit, NISAR Early Adopters and those using NISAR-like products. On behalf of the conveners, Cathleen Jones (NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory), Gordon Wells (University of Texas at Austin), and Hannah Dietterich (U.S. Geological Survey) 2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2 ============================================================== Volcano Listserv is a collaborative venture among Arizona State University (ASU), Portland State University (PSU), the Global Volcanism Program (GVP) of the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Natural History, and the International Association for Volcanology and Chemistry of the Earth's Interior (IAVCEI).
