Dear Colleagues,

We invite you to submit an abstract to our session "Distributed Volcanic
Fields: Science, Histories, and Hazards" for the 2023 AGU Fall Meeting
scheduled for 11-15 December 2023 in San Francisco, CA.

*Session Description*
"There are hundreds of distributed volcanic fields (DVFs) on Earth, each
comprised of tens to hundreds of vents, often near population centers and
infrastructure. Despite this prevalence, DVFs have poorly understood
eruptive histories and are largely unmonitored. Future eruptions within
DVFs could produce significant hazards ranging from fluid basaltic lava
flows to ash columns and pyroclastic density currents.

The volcanology community recognizes that DVFs require more robust hazard
assessments, improved models, and a more thorough cataloging of their
histories. We must recognize and reduce the substantial hazard potential
associated with these vast areas so that we might forecast potential
locations, timings, and impacts of future eruptions.

This session seeks contributions broadly within the subject of distributed
volcanic fields, including but not limited to: geologic, geophysical, and
geochemical studies; hazard assessments; science communication; conceptual
models; how past, present, and future societies interact with DVFs; and
DVFs on other planets."
