POSITION:                   Western Colorado University invites
applications for a non-tenure-track full time faculty position in Geology
in the areas of mineralogy and petrology.  Teaching responsibilities
include courses and labs in Earth Materials, Igneous and Metamorphic
Petrology and Introductory Physical Geology. Other courses could be
included in the teaching load based on need and qualifications. The
successful candidate will teach a 3 lecture/2 lab load per semester. Strong
commitment to effective teaching, advising, service and professional
development is expected.

The Geology Program at Western has over 50 students. Students have the
opportunity to earn BS degrees in Environmental, General, and Petroleum
Geology as well as 2nd education licensure and Geoarchaeology. For more

QUALIFICATIONS:       A PhD in Geology or Earth Sciences with demonstrated
research experience in mineralogy and/or petrology. ABD also considered for
appointment. Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to
undergraduate education, excellence in teaching, and willingness to work
with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student
population. Candidates must also be able to use technology in instructional
delivery, including ability to teach online and hybrid courses.
Collegiality and professional flexibility are characteristic of the
department and would be sought in the successful candidate.

SALARY/BENEFITS:     $43,000-$45,000 annualized salary. Western offers an
excellent benefits package including shared premiums for a comprehensive
health insurance plan, dental insurance, retirement plan, life insurance,
and other insurance options. After one year of employment, Western provides
free tuition for dependents enrolled full time in undergraduate programs
for up to four years.
