Dear colleagues

We are pleased to announce the publication of the second circular of the
international conference: â??Celebrating the 80th anniversary of Parícutin
volcano (Michoacán, Mexico) - Preserving our heritage and preparing for
future eruptionsâ??; Feb 19-24, 2023; Morelia (Mexico)

Thanks to our great colleagues and experts in Mexico and abroad who have
accepted to be conveners, our webpage (

) now contains detailed descriptions of a wide range of scientific sessions
(e.g., volcanology, geochemistry, archaeology, history, geoheritage,
biology, ecology, art, monitoring and risk management, among others). Our
main goal is to gather a rich and diverse community of people to address
the theme of monogenetic volcanism and its interaction with Nature
(including us) in an integral way.

Our program now also includes the names of several renowned scientists who
have kindly agreed to come to Morelia to deliver keynotes on fundamental
aspects of monogenetic volcanism and its relation with human communities.

Last but not least, we are able to offer a wide selection of pre- and
post-conference field trips on the diverse monogenetic fields that occur in
the central and eastern parts of the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt. You may
take those into account in your planning.

Please visit our webpage for more information (costs, deadlines, schedule,
logistics) and register your interest if you have not done so already, so
that we can send you further updates on the event. New information will be
uploaded soon so keep track of it.

We are hoping to get the platform for registration to the conference and
fieldtrips working from November 4th. Note that we have kept the
registration costs as low as possible to allow for the participation of
students and fellow researchers from lower-income countries.
