Applications will be considered to the PhD program in the ES Department at UH-MÄ?noa. A MS degree in geochemistry is desirable. The successful candidate should have research experience in trace element or isotope geochemistry, and a willingness to work in a cleanroom chemistry environment for the duration of the PhD. Attention to detail is a critical skill for the successful candidate. This project does not involve field work, but students at UH-MÄ?noa have many opportunities to participate in local field trips on the Islands of OÊ»ahu and HawaiÊ»i. The Graduate Assistant will pursue their PhD degree as part of the ES Department in the School of Ocean and Earth Sciences and Technology (SOEST) at UH-MÄ?noa (https://urldefense.com/v3/__http://www.soest.hawaii.edu/GG/index.html__;!!IKRxdwAv5BmarQ!L3DLtIux0WJf34cMBDijLtTtGYMU7hdZLSWUPcLdq2MOBz7Q0M3SP9K6WzSC9oQ$ <https://urldefense.com/v3/__http://www.soest.hawaii.edu/GG/index.html__;!!IKRxdwAv5BmarQ!NUNt14gl0cNXYYsVgw0mnEcJatnkIm31bhkZFfX4Sg9UdqtIww7MscEKepTwz4GsHEw$>) and will be advised by Dr. Aaron Pietruszka. Additional opportunities may include the mentoring of local high school or community college students and working as a Teaching Assistant to gain professional teaching experience. The deadline to apply is January 15, 2022 and the expected starting date is Fall Semester in August 2022. Formal application instructions are provided on the website of the ES Department ( https://urldefense.com/v3/__http://www.soest.hawaii.edu/GG/academics/es_phd.html__;!!IKRxdwAv5BmarQ!L3DLtIux0WJf34cMBDijLtTtGYMU7hdZLSWUPcLdq2MOBz7Q0M3SP9K6A1eyZyo$ <https://urldefense.com/v3/__http://www.soest.hawaii.edu/GG/academics/es_phd.html__;!!IKRxdwAv5BmarQ!NUNt14gl0cNXYYsVgw0mnEcJatnkIm31bhkZFfX4Sg9UdqtIww7MscEKepTwLm_xiiA$>). Potential applicants should contact Aaron Pietruszka (apietrus@xxxxxxxxxx) to learn more about the project and the graduate program at UH-MÄ?noa. The ES Department at UH-MÄ?noa is actively seeking to increase the diversity of its student population ( https://urldefense.com/v3/__http://www.soest.hawaii.edu/GG/jedi/huliamahi.html__;!!IKRxdwAv5BmarQ!L3DLtIux0WJf34cMBDijLtTtGYMU7hdZLSWUPcLdq2MOBz7Q0M3SP9K6HnbEj1A$ <https://urldefense.com/v3/__http://www.soest.hawaii.edu/GG/jedi/huliamahi.html__;!!IKRxdwAv5BmarQ!NUNt14gl0cNXYYsVgw0mnEcJatnkIm31bhkZFfX4Sg9UdqtIww7MscEKepTw6dG1dws$>).
