Dear all,

Please consider submitting your AGU abstracts to our session: V023 - The
Dynamics of Magmatic Plumbing Systems.

This session is sponsored by IAVCEI VIPS commission, and aims to bring
together people working on all aspects of magmatic plumbing systems. As an
invited speaker, we have Dr. Michal Camejo-Harry from the Seismic Research
Centre of the University of the West Indies, who will be presenting the
results of their work on the plumbing system of some Lesser Antilles
volcanoes.

Abstract:
The physics of magmatic processes occurring within volcanic plumbing
systems are complex and play a fundamental role in controlling the tempo
and style of volcanic activity, the formation of cumulate rocks, and the
generation of magmatic-hydrothermal ore deposits. To unravel the complexity
of magmatic plumbing systems a multidisciplinary approach is hence
necessary. This session aims to bring together scientists working on
understanding the structural, chemical, and temporal evolution of
magmaticâ??hydrothermal systems using a wide range of techniques, including
fieldwork, petrology, geochemistry, geophysics, geodesy, experiments, and
numerical modelling, to diffuse the boundaries between these often separate
disciplines. The session aims at building a comprehensive understanding of
the inner workings of Volcanic and Igneous Plumbing Systems (VIPS), and
welcomes contributions that cover terrestrial and/or extra-terrestrial
settings, that explore both deep and/or shallow processes, considering the
full spectrum of tectonic settings at both active and inactive volcanic
systems.

Regards,
Chiara Montagna, Aurelie Germa, Yang Li, and Gareth Fabbro
