*Chemical Instrumentation Specialist*
The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Denison University invites
applications for a full-time Chemical Instrumentation Specialist starting
Spring 2021.  The instrumentation specialist collaborates with faculty and
students in the context of both teaching and research to maximize the
utility and learning potential of our extensive instrumentation resources,
including SEM, XRD, HPLC plus additional spectroscopic and thermal analysis
instruments.  This year-round position is primarily responsible for
maintaining and supporting major chemical instrumentation used across the
Chemistry and Biochemistry curriculum.  The Department of Chemistry &
Biochemistry will support the successful candidate in ongoing training
opportunities in chemical instrumentation. This position will also assist
with communal instruments used to characterize the chemical and/or physical
characteristics of laboratory samples housed in the Department of Earth and
Environmental Science and Department of Biology.

A masterâ??s degree in a science/engineering field is required along with
basic knowledge across multiple areas of major chemical
instrumentation.  Successful candidates will bring hands-on experience of
the use, troubleshooting, routine maintenance, calibration, and minor
repairs of at least one type of major chemical instrumentation
(spectroscopy, microscopy, or chromatography) plus an eagerness to learn
and continue training in less familiar instrumentation types.  This
position requires broad knowledge of computer skills and fluency with
Microsoft/Google documents along with strong interpersonal plus written and
verbal communication skills.  Experience with hands-on knowledge of more
than one type of major chemical instrumentation is preferred.   For a list
