(JSC-XI111)[Jacobs Technology, Inc.]" < gordon.moore@xxxxxxxx> Hello all, Apologies for multiple postingsâ?¦ We have two positions open for highly motivated research scientists at Jacobs. Please see details below. Research scientist/EPMA specialist: The responsibilities will be shared between running the electron microprobe and conducting high T/high P experiments in the ARES ExPet lab at Johnson Space Center. They will include: - Conduct high temperature and high pressure experiments that simulate planetary interiors, including core formation and mantle and crustal differentiation processes, and compare these experiments to mission acquired data. - Analyze experimental run products including major, trace elemental, and isotopic compositions, as well as characterize mineral phase utilizing numerous electron beam techniques including, but not limited too, the scanning electron microscope and the electron beam microanalyzer. - Support visiting as well as in-house researchers with tasks related to sample preparation for analysis with and operation of an electron probe micro-analyzer. These tasks will include training new users of the instrument, conducting chemical analysis of solid materials (including but not limited to lunar, meteorite, terrestrial, and experimental samples), providing electron imaging and chemical mapping by both WDS and EDS, of planetary materials. - Summarize and communicate quantitative results. - Meticulously document procedures and results, and actively participate in safety programs. - Complete daily laboratory maintenance requirements. - Perform other duties as required. - For more information, and to apply, please follow this link: https://jacobs.taleo.net/careersection/ex/jobdetail.ftl?job=AER0005BV&tz=GMT-06%3A00&tzname=America%2FChicago Research scientist/LA-ICPMS specialist with *Aerodyne Industries*, a JETS Teammate company: The responsibilities of this position include: - Analyze astromaterial samples and analogs. - Develop analytical techniques based on detailed understanding of laser ablation methods for both elemental and isotopic analysis. - Utilize contamination minimization and clean techniques. - Prepare samples and perform analyses for both laser ablation MC-ICPMS and laser ablation ICPMS. - Perform day-to-day operation of femtosecond and excimer laser systems - Provide general support for isotope lab users including the procurement and inventory of supplies and laboratory equipment. - Validate, summarize and communicate quantitative results. - Meticulously document procedures and results, and actively participate in safety programs. - Work with in-house as well as visiting researchers on all aspects of experimentation and analysis. - Actively pursue collaborations and development of projects within and outside the department. - Perform other duties as required. - For more information, and to apply, please follow this link: https://jacobs.taleo.net/careersection/ex/jobdetail.ftl?job=AER0005BR&tz=GMT-06%3A00&tzname=America%2FChicago 4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4 ------------------------------
