Dear colleagues,

We would like to encourage your participation in our AGU Fall Meeting
session, which is focused on elasticity in planetary interiors (details
below):

*Title:* Elasticity: Connecting the Properties of Minerals to Planetary
Models
*Section:* Mineral and Rock Physics (MRP)
*Session ID:* 105894

*Abstract:* In order to understand the structure and composition of the
Earth and its moon, we rely on our understanding of the elastic properties
of potential constituent materials to inform interpretations of seismic
velocities and geodynamical models. More recently, elastic constraints have
also become invaluable in our efforts to better understand the structure
and composition of Mars. This session aims to bring together computational
and experimental researchers who determine the elastic properties of
geological materials and melts with the researchers who employ these
constraints to interpret tomographic models and those who develop novel
geodynamical models of planetary bodies.

*Invited Speakers:*
Grace Shephard, University of Oslo
Zhongqing Wu, University of Science and Technology of China

*Conveners:*
Elizabeth Thompson, Sewanee: The University of the South
Renata Wentzcovitch, Columbia University
Jung-Fu Lin, University of Texas at Austin
Han Hsu, National Central University of Taiwan

The AGU abstract portal is already open and the *deadline for submissions
is Wednesday, 29 July*. In light of current health concerns, the AGU Fall
Meeting 2020 will be mostly virtual. Featured meeting content will be held
during the original 7-11 December dates, with additional content scheduled
to best meet the needs of our international attendees around the world. In
light of these changes, AGU will be charging a significantly reduced
registration fee.

You can view more information about this session and submit an abstract HERE
<https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm20/prelim.cgi/Session/105894>.
