3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3-3 From: Julia EYCHENNE ROWAN <julia.eychenne@xxxxxx> ** Still accepting registration for the pre-conference Workshop #5 at Cities on Volcanoes 11 in May 2020 "Early Career - BV - Springer workshop: Getting published" ** We wish to announce that registration for the pre-meeting workshop dedicated to Publishing and aimed at Early Career Researchers associated with Cities on Volcanoes 11 (Heraklion, Crete) in May of 2020 is still open. This is a joint initiative of the Bulletin of Volcanology publishing board, Springer and the ECR-net. This one day workshop is aimed at Early Career Researchers who wish to improve their chances of getting published. The grouping will gather editors from Bulletin of Volcanology, journal managers from Springer, as well as senior academic researchers with expertise in writing scientific publications and peer-reviewing them. The workshop will provide information on the publishing system and how it works; scientific journals (their operation and expectations) and the publication process; the roles and expectations of journal editors; and scientific writing (including manuscript formatting, organization, and content). Through case studies and exercises we will explore writing strategies, including effective abstracts, titles, keywords, introductions, data presentation, plus formulating convincing discussions, arguments and conclusions. The workshop will include full interaction between the participants and the leaders, providing an invaluable opportunity for Early Career Researchers to improve their ability to publish their research.
