4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4 From: "Céline Mandon" <celmandon@xxxxxxxxx> FACULTY POSITION AT YACHAY TECH UNIVERSITY, ECUADOR: PHYSICAL VOLCANOLOGY The School of Earth Sciences, Energy and Environment at Yachay Tech University (Ecuador) invites applicants for a faculty position in the field of Physical Volcanology. The latest expected start date is June 1, 2020. We seek applicants with a commitment to teaching, research, and partnership building with research organizations in Ecuador and elsewhere. The candidate should have a PhD in geology or a related field, with relevant experience in the area of physical volcanology and field geology. The candidate should show a strong publication record and evidence of teaching experience. We particularly encourage applicants with more than 5 yearsâ?? experience in academia and an interest in administrative duties. Ecuador has more than 50 Holocene volcanoes, and large part of the country is blanketed by volcanic deposits making it an ideal place for teaching and research. The candidate will be expected to establish a research program in Physical Volcanology as well as to participate in teaching and student advising activities within the School. The main teaching duties are Field Mapping and Field Methods, as well as Volcanology occasionally. More advanced courses such as Volcano Geology will also be expected once our Master program is launched. Classes are taught using the block system (e.g., https://www.coloradocollege.edu/basics/blockplan/). Most of the teaching duties will be carried out in English, therefore the applicant needs to demonstrate a sufficient English language proficiency. Spanish is the working language at Yachay Tech; if the candidate does not speak Spanish, the candidate should have the ambition to learn Spanish.
