Dear colleagues,

We would like to draw your attention to the following session at the
upcoming Cities on Volcanoes conference, Heraklion, Crete to be held May
23-27, 2020:

*S2.8: Source to surface magma transport at small-volume intraplate
basaltic volcanoes*

*Session description:*

Understanding the sub-volcanic journey of magma from mantle source to
surface in small-volume basaltic volcanic fields is critical for improved
assessment of volcanic hazards. Magma transport pathways from the mantle
may be direct and rapid, or more complex, involving storage and evolution
and so provide greater warning time of an eruption. In this session we
welcome contributions that unravel the pathways, dynamics and timescales of
magma ascent at small volume continental basaltic â??monogeneticâ?? and
â??polygeneticâ?? volcanoes. The session covers studies utilising but not
limited to: field relations in exposed plumbing systems, geophysical
imaging, paleomagnetism, the petrography and mineralogy of erupted rocks
and associated xenoliths, whole-rock geochemistry and isotopes. We welcome
contributions at the scale of single-volcanic centres to field-wide studies.

*Conveners:*
Heather Handley, Macquarie University, Australia (heather.handley@xxxxxxxxx)
Károly Németh, Massey University, New Zealand (K.Nemeth@xxxxxxxxxxxx)
Hugo Murcia, Universidad de Caldas, Colombia (hugo.murcia@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx)

Abstract Submission Deadline: 25 January 2020

We look forward to seeing you in Crete!
