Session Title: *North Atlantic Cenozoic Realm and Analogous Regions: New
Advances in Understanding*

Enormous progress has recently been made in unravelling the Cenozoic
tectonics, breakup and structure of the North Atlantic Realm via ambitious
geological and geophysical studies, both land and marine.
Cross-disciplinary integration of results is radically improving knowledge
continental breakup, passive margins, continental crust in the oceans,
ocean-ridge evolution and the Wilson Cycle concept. These advances have
far-reaching implications for other regions, e.g., the South Atlantic,
Indian and Pacific Oceans, suggesting the possibility of generic models for
processes and structures in all oceans. This session will host
cross-disciplinary presentations to stimulate new, testable hypotheses.
Contributions are invited that bear on the history and present state of the
Cenozoic North Atlantic Realm, including the influence of pre-existing
structure (see Session 82304) and/or relevant studies from other regions.
All disciplines are welcomed including terrestrial and marine geophysics,
numerical modelling, structural geology, igneous petrology, stratigraphy
and tectonics, particularly integrating cross-disciplinary work.
