Dear Colleagues,

It is a great pleasure to announce that a new research topic on hazard
assessment of pyroclastic density currents and lahars has been launched by
Frontiers in Earth Science. The main goal of the Research Topic is to
explore and compile the different approaches that are currently being used
worldwide to characterise PDC and lahar hazard. Contributions may cover
(but are not limited to):

(i) mapping of PDC and lahar deposits,

(ii) experiments of physical processes,

(iii) numerical models and simulations, and

(iv) statistical modelling and uncertainty quantification.

Frontiers in Earth Science is an open-access journal, with an impact factor
of 2.892. The journalâ??s ranking in the Geosciences (multidisciplinary)
category now stands at 54/196, a significant achievement for a new journal.
If you would like to contribute, abstract submissions are due on the 29th of
August 2019, with manuscripts due on 17th of February 2020.You will find
specific information here:
https://www.frontiersin.org/research-topics/10487/field-data-models-and-uncertainty-in-hazard-assessment-of-pyroclastic-density-currents-and-lahars-gl#overview
 .

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact myself (
s.mead@xxxxxxxxxxxx) or any of the editors.

We look forward to your contributions,

Stuart Mead (on behalf of the editors Pablo, Elaine, Eliza, Laura and
Andrea)
