2 positions: Volcanologist and Specialist in Volcano Geodesy

This announcement is to replace the previous one, which omitted a couple of
details.

The University of Colima, Mexico is seeking candidates for two full-time
permanent positions in Volcanology, with a scheduled start in August 2019.
Both are research positions, with a focus on Volcán de Colima. The
successful candidates will form a part of the volcanic monitoring team, which
will require flexible working hours during periods of heightened activity.
They will be expected to develop a vigorous research program with high
academic productivity, and participate as a professor in undergraduate and
master's degrees (a minimum of one course per semester). A PhD is required,
as well as an excellent level of English. Spanish would be an advantage, as
would experience in teaching.

1) Volcano geologist. A background in geology is required with experience
in the recognition and interpretation of volcanic deposits, as well as
modelling volcanic processes. The candidate should have extensive knowledge
of the geochemistry and petrology of volcanic rocks and a solid base in
structural geology within subduction and rift tectonic environments.


2) Geophysicist with specialization in volcano geodesy. The candidate
should have experience in the geodetic monitoring of active volcanoes and
tectonics, including a knowledge of GPS, tiltmeters and EDM measurements,
as well as remote sensing (InSAR).
