Both are research positions, with a focus on Volcán de Colima. The successful candidates will form a part of the volcanic monitoring team, which will require flexible working hours during periods of heightened activity. They will be expected to develop a vigorous research program with high academic productivity, and participate as a professor in undergraduate and master's degrees (a minimum of one course per semester). A PhD is required, as well as an excellent level of English. Spanish would be an advantage, as would experience in teaching. 1) Volcano geologist. A background in geology is required with experience in the study and recognition of volcanic deposits and tephrostratigraphy. The candidate should have extensive knowledge of the geochemistry and petrology of volcanic rocks, a solid base in structural geology within subduction and rift tectonic environments, and their relationship with volcanic activity. 2) Geophysicist with specialization in volcano geodesy. The candidate should have experience in the geodetic monitoring of active volcanoes and tectonics, including a knowledge of GPS, tiltmeters and EDM measurements, as well as remote sensing (InSAR).
