Participants will learn about the capabilities of SIMS for geochronology, stable isotope analysis, and other applications. The curriculum will include instruction on the theory and applications of SIMS as well as breakout sessions and practical demonstrations of various types of SIMS analyses using the two large-radius magnetic sector ion probes at UCLA. Arrival and departure dates are Sunday, February 24 and Friday, March 1, respectively, and NSF's Instrumentation and Facilities program will cover the travel and lodging expenses of participants based in the US. Graduate students and advanced undergraduates (the latter with an advisor's letter of recommendation) can apply using the form on the UCLA SIMS website: http://sims.ess.ucla.edu. The application deadline is January 3, 2018. Please contact Elizabeth Bell (ebell21@xxxxxxxx) with any questions.
