Dear Colleagues,

The International Journal of Geophysics is currently running the Special
Issue "Advanced Processing Techniques for Geophysical Signals Recorded at
Active Volcanoes".

We welcome contributions focused on recent advances in geophysical signal
processing, new algorithms and tools for improved eruption monitoring, and
volcano Early Warning. Manuscripts where Signal Analysis and Processing,
Data Mining, Automatic Learning, Big Data and Knowledge Management are
combined within the framework of Volcanic Geophysics, are specially
welcome. Review papers based on multiparametric volcano monitoring are also
appreciated.

The Call for Papers for this Special Issue has now been posted on the
journal's website at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ijge/si/869157/cfp/.

We think you could make an excellent contribution so we encourage you to
take a look at the Call for Papers and goals of the Special Issue that you
can find attached to this email, as well as at the above link.

*The submission deadline is 7 December 2018. *Authors can submit their
manuscripts through the Manuscript Tracking System at
https://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/ijge/aptv/. We also encourage
authors to send a tentative title and short abstract to the team of Guest
Editors and the Lead Guest Editor in advance, by replying to this email.

International Journal of Geophysics is a peer-reviewed, Open Access journal
that publishes original research articles as well as review articles in all
areas of theoretical, observational, applied, and computational geophysics.
International Journal of Geophysics is archived in Portico, which provides
permanent archiving for electronic scholarly journals, as well as via the
LOCKSS initiative. It operates a fully open access publishing model which
allows open global access to its published content. This model is supported
through Article Processing Charges (https://www.hindawi.com/journ

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce the opening of the 1st Transnational Access call
of the EC H2020 EUROVOLC project.

Seven European institutions - IMO, UI, INGV, CNR-IGG, CIVISA, IPGP, and
CSIC - will grant access to their volcano observatories and infrastructures
according to an excellence-driven selection of scientific project proposals.

*Please consider submitting a project proposal not later than 30 September
2018.*

The kind of offer, the eligibility criteria, the selection process details
as well as the way how to apply and time table can be found at the EUROVOLC

Dear colleagues,

The New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (NMT) invites
applications for two tenure-track, Assistant Professor positions: one in
Volcanology and one in Geochemistry. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in
Earth Sciences or a related field at the time of appointment. For the
Volcanology position, we seek candidates with interests in one or a
combination of the following research areas: igneous petrology,
experimental petrology, volcanic gas geochemistry, remote sensing, physical
or numerical modeling, volcano physics, physical volcanology, and/or
volcanic hazards. For the Geochemistry position we seek candidates with
interests in one or a combination of the following research areas: igneous
petrochemistry, sedimentary geochemistry, geochemistry of ore deposits,
geochronology, and/or isotope geochemistry. For both positions, potential
for excellence in teaching and research are the most important
qualifications. Responsibilities will include developing an active program
of extramurally funded research, supervising and supporting M.S. and Ph.D.
students, teaching graduate and/or undergraduate courses (3 courses total
per year), and service to the Department, Institute, and at the
national/international level.

NMT specializes in science and engineering education and research and has a
present enrollment of approximately 2200 undergraduate and graduate
students. The successful candidates will join the Earth and Environmental
Science Department consisting of 16 faculty and about 50 undergraduate and
70 graduate students, with strong programs in Hydrology, Geophysics, and
Geology/Geochemistry, and a history of interdisciplinary research.
Additional geoscience professionals on campus include over 30 staff members
of the New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources, plus faculty and
researchers in the Petroleum Recovery Research Center and the IRIS PASSCAL
Instrument Center. Analytical facilities on campus include the
state-of-the-art New Mexico Geochronology Research Laboratory (40Ar/39Ar),
a stable-isotope laboratory, electron microprobe, SEM with CL, XRD, ICP-MS
systems for trace-element analysis (including a laser-ablation ICP-MS),
fission-track and cosmogenic isotope facilities and soil chemistry lab.

Applicants should submit a letter of interest, CV, statement of teaching
and research interests, one representative publication, and the names of
three references in a single pdf sent to Rosa Jaramillo (
nmtjobapps@xxxxxxxxxxx) and copied to search committee co-chairs Ronni
Grapenthin (ronni.grapenthin@xxxxxxx) and Peter Mozley (peter.mozley@xxxxxxx
).* For full consideration please apply by October 1, 2018*. Inquiries
should be directed to the search committee chairs.

Excellent benefits (health, vision, dental), tuition fee waiver, and a
generous retirement plan. New Mexico Tech is aware of the challenges of
dual-career couples, and provides limited assistance to qualified
individuals.

New Mexico Tech is located in Socorro, in the scenic Rio Grande River
Valley of central New Mexico, 75 miles south of Albuquerque with its many
attractions, and 139 miles south of Santa Fe. Nearby mountains and desert
canyons provide opportunities for excellent hiking, climbing, and mountain
biking. The Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge, located just south
of Socorro along a major north-south flyway, offers some of the best
birding in the USA.
