We are pleased to announce the launch of a blog-style website designed to highlight the many opportunities available outside of academia for people with a Ph.D. degree in volcanology and other related fields. Indeed, there are not enough academic jobs to support the number of students pursuing PhDs, and many folks who pursue PhDs may not be interested in academic jobs. Yet current early career researchers (students, postdocs) do not have many resources to learn about opportunities beyond academia.
This site aims to publish short bios of people in a variety of non-academic jobs, provide resources and articles discussing the current Ph.D. to job market transition, and present statistics about what life looks like for Ph.D.-holders outside academia.
