The teaching component supports an innovative Master-of-Arts in Teaching (MAT) program (http://www.amnh.org/learn-teach/master-of-arts-in-teaching ) designed to educate teacher candidates in both the science and pedagogy required to successfully teach the New York State Regents Earth sciences curriculum, which includes about 50% Earth history topics. Field experience is an advantage in this regard.
