Dear colleagues, educators and hazard communicators,

If you are eager to speak about hazards but have no time or insufficient footage to produce your own movies, the HAZAGORA videos are made for you!

This series of videos has been produced in support of the HAZAGORA educational board game developed by geographers at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium). During a game of HAZAGORA, players have to come up with ways to protect their community from the earthquakes, volcano eruptions and tsunamis that plague their island. In the series of videos that are released today, VUB-researchers explain the causes and effects of the different hazards that strike the player's communities during the game. They also describe protection measures that should be adopted before, during and after the hazard. Dutch and French subtitles are available.

The board game materials are available free of charge. They can be requested in digital format to produce ones own version by e-mailing the developers at sophie.mossoux@xxxxxx

Additional information about the outcome of the game can be read in the peer-reviewed paper: https://www.nat-hazards-earth-syst-sci.net/16/135/2016/nhess-16-135-2016.pdf. Please do cite this publication when using the movies in your courses or scholarly work.

Hope that with these videos we all will survive the next distaster!
