Please consider submitting an abstract to the “Drilling Magma Chambers” session NH-007 https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm17/preliminaryview.cgi/Session24033.html for the fall AGU meeting in New Orleans, 11-15 December.  The abstract deadline is 23:59 EDT 2 August.

Highlights will include drilling encounters with silicic magma at Puna (Hawaii), Menengai (Kenya), and Krafla (Iceland). We also want to hear about and discuss aspirations for future magma and near-magma drilling as well as thoughts on what is to be learned in terms of magma science, drilling engineering, geothermal energy, and volcano hazards from pushing the temperature frontier.

Conveners:  John Eichelberger (University of Alaska Fairbanks), Yan Lavallee (University of Liverpool), and Doug Blankenship (Sandia National Laboratories)
